PACA Steering Committee Meeting, Monday, March 24, 2008, 5pm

Minutes

Present: Sharon Ludwig, John Polm, Susanne Griepp, Tracey Rice, Julie Polm, Janet McLaughlin, Don McLaughlin, Dave Ferre, Kathy Childs, Jessica Sety, Louise Glenn, Larry Frownfelter

Items discussed:

1. Logo – Tracey has made a set of Logo contest rules. She read them to the group. She will email them to Sharon who will email them to all members. Dave will put the contest rules on the website. Sharon will ask Diane Kinzler to email them to Arts Guild members. It was decided to arrange for tickets to local performances of Music on the Mountain (Tom), Stage Time Fall Production (Janet) and JHS Fall production (Janet) as a reward for the chosen Logo.

2. Calendar – Sharon will update the calendar and send it to Dave.

3. Community communication – Tracey will write an article for the newspaper to inform the community about the Web site, when it is available.

4. Dave will arrange a PO box for the group and put the box number on the web site.

5. Louise went through a non-profit check list. We made some assignments based on the list.

a. Sharon will ask for support letters from Community Celebrations and the City of Chewelah.

b. Don, Tracey and Louise will meet and work on the documentation for incorporation.

c. We decided that the annual meeting will be the first Tuesday in October. The capital fund drive will be in November, and will be kicked off with a Big Event

6. Sharon will make arrangements with Community Celebrations for members of our steering committee to meet with them at their night meeting May 6 to discuss our working arrangements between the two groups.

7. We need to meet with the Arts Guild to work on the upcoming joint yard sale, on May 24. All members of both groups are encouraged to help gather goods, price items, and be on hand to help the day of the sale.

8. Sharon will set up a meeting with Curt for March 31 at 2pm for Tom, Jessica and Sharon. Any other members who want to attend are welcome. (Note – I did set up the meeting with Curt for Monday March 31 at 2pm. Sharon)

9. Steering committee reports needed by labor day:

a. design of the building

b. financial

c. names of the steering committee

d. proposed budget

e. proposed building use for the first year

f. letters of support

10. Don will be setting up meetings with Jon Eminger and the Confederated tribe for sometime during the second week of April. Jessica and Tracey indicated an interest in attending the meetings. Any others that are interested, please let Don know.

11. John reported on the failed school levy. A concerned citizens meeting is being held tonight at the Abundant Life Church at 7pm. All are invited to attend.

12. Don asked John to work on a committee to discuss the interaction between the PACA group and the school.

13. John will get a letter of support from the school.
